As the Betway Premiership continues to heat up, this weekend's fixtures promise plenty of action, with several exciting matchups to look forward to.

From Mamelodi Sundowns seeking revenge against TS Galaxy to AmaZulu aiming to bounce back from recent setbacks, the competition is fierce. Stellenbosch will look to extend their strong form at home, while Richards Bay will be desperate to escape the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, teams like Chippa United and Sekhukhune United are both eager to secure crucial points to push up the table. With high stakes in every game, this weekend’s action is not to be missed.

FRIDAY

Stellenbosch FC vs Richards Bay FC

Kick-off: 7.30pm Venue: Danie Craven Stadium

Stellenbosch are in seventh position in the Premiership standings, while battling Richards Bay are in 13th place, just two points clear of the dreaded relegation zone. After Stellenbosch's thrilling win against the ever-improving TS Galaxy in a five-goal thriller, the Maroons will be oozing confidence on home turf in Friday's clash against the Natal Rich Boyz. Richards Bay are also riding a confidence wave after defeating Polokwane City and Marumo Gallants. Expect Stellenbosch to emerge as the winner, as their possession-based style of play will allow them to control the midfield and dictate the pace of the game.

Prediction: Stellenbosch to win 3-1

Betting odds

  • Stellenbosch: 1.76
  • Draw: 3.25
  • Richards Bay: 5.00

SATURDAY

Chippa United vs Sekhukhune United

Kick-off: 3.30pm Venue: Buffalo City Stadium

The Cheesey Ones call it the #UnitedBattle, and indeed each of the two sides will need to display more unity to get the better of the other. Chippa, with three wins in eight games across all competitions so far this year, are no different from Sekhukhune, who have only lost to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs since the start of 2025.

The Chilli Boys will be buoyed by their win over a Muhsin Ertugral-coached Cape Town City, while Sekhukhune will have their tails up after dismantling AmaZulu FC 4-2 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium midweek.

Prediction: Put your money on the draw with goals. 2-2 to be precise.

Betting odds

  • Chippa: 3.00
  • Draw: 2.75
  • Sekhukhune: 2.70

Orlando Pirates vs Cape Town City

Kick-off: 3.30pm Venue: Orlando Stadium

One of the two grudge matches this weekend, Orlando Pirates will face Cape Town City, while league champions Mamelodi Sundowns travel to TS Galaxy.

Cape Town City slapped title-chasing Pirates with a 1-0 defeat in the first leg. However, not much should be read into that, as it was simply the result of Muhsin Ertugral’s arrival. Gauteng sides always have a hard time in Cape Town, and the Cape teams likewise struggle in the highveld. You may want to consider the spice that the likes of Fortune Makaringe, Kamohelo Mokotjo, and Haashim Domingo will bring in their return to Jozi.

Prediction: 3-1 to Orlando Pirates, with City’s goal coming in the second half.

Betting odds

  • Pirates: 1.43
  • Draw: 4.10
  • City: 8.00

Mamelodi Sundowns vs TS Galaxy FC

Kick-off: 5.45pm Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium

Revenge is a dish served best cold, and after winning their last two games following a shock 1-0 loss to Galaxy two weeks ago, Sundowns will be looking to settle the score.

Sundowns will host the Rockets in Atteridgeville, a stage where they have yet to falter under coach Miguel Cardoso. Therefore, Adnan Beganovic and his troops should expect a tough visit.

Beganovic had a dream start to life as Galaxy’s coach, going on a 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions. However, the wheels seem to be coming off, as he has recently suffered back-to-back defeats. This started with a 2-1 loss away to Durban City in the Nedbank Cup last 16, followed by a 3-2 loss at home to Stellenbosch in the Betway Premiership.

Prediction: Sundowns to win 3-0

Betting odds

  • Mamelodi Sundowns: 1.57
  • Draw: 3.30
  • TS Galaxy: 7.60

AmaZulu vs Magesi FC

Kick-off: 3:30 PMVenue: King Zwelithini Stadium

It was supposed to be a smooth ride, but AmaZulu have hit several potholes in their bid to cement themselves in the top half of the table under co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

They lost 4-2 to Sekhukhune United midweek, thanks to some schoolboy errors in defence, which led to Zwane commenting that he might not defend his players anymore.

Meanwhile, Magesi seems to be turning the tide under coach Owen Da Gama, having won back-to-back matches recently. They beat Cape Town City 2-0 and Polokwane City 1-0, showing they’re not only sharp in attack but also solid in defence, as evidenced by keeping clean sheets in both matches.

Prediction: A good old fashioned 1-1 draw.

Betting odds

  • AmaZulu: 1.91
  • Draw: 3.20
  • Magesi: 4.30

SUNDAY

Marumo Gallants vs Polokwane City

Kick-off: 3.30pm Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Both sides are still licking their wounds following midweek defeats.

For a good 50 minutes, Siwelele had Mamelodi Sundowns huffing and puffing, staring at their second consecutive league loss, but their failure to tighten the screws at the back saw them lose 3-1. Impressive for large parts of the encounter, Gallants have now lost their last three matches, but they face a Polokwane City side that is also low in confidence after two consecutive losses.

Rise and Shine will be the favorites to win, but Gallants will continue to play their natural game and knock the ball around. For the visitors to have any success, they will need to stop them in their tracks.

Prediction: A 1-1 draw

Betting odds

  • Gallants: 4.75
  • Draw: 3.30
  • Polokwane City: 1.70

Supersport United vs Golden Arrows

Kick-off: 3.30pm Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium

Not much separates these two sides, as they are equal on points. Golden Arrows have a three-game advantage over the home side due to some of their matches being postponed.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori are flying high following their emphatic 4-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs, which could easily turn their season around. Both sides have won one match from their last five fixtures, and heading into this duel, the only advantage will be that of playing at home for Gavin Hunt and his men.

New signings are making an impact for United, while Abafana Bes’thende could be fresh following the postponement of their midweek fixture. However, based on their last two wins in all competitions, Supersport United will have the upper hand in this fixture.

Prediction: Supersport United to win 1-0

Betting odds:

  • Supersport United: 1.66
  • Draw: 3.65
  • Golden Arrows: 5.20
