Tributes pour in for musicians who died in a car accident

Tributes continue to pour in for music star Malome Vector, real name Bokang Moleli, who died in a car accident on Wednesday afternoon along with fellow musician Lizwi Wokuqala and a music video director known as Da Mos

Moleli was best known for his chart-topping hits such as “Dumelang” with Blaq Diamond and songs such as “Nobody” and “Lerato”.

His family confirmed his death and said they will remember him for his unwavering love and selflessness.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we, Moleli’s family, confirm the passing of our son Bokang Moleli, aka Malome Vector, on July 24, 2024. Malome Vector was involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident on his way to Lesotho, which took his life immediately. A true and loving son indeed. He lived all his life in the entertainment industry and brought to us the music that we have come to love so much.

“His friends and fans will remember him for his limitless love and selflessness. He leaves his wife, daughter, mother, father and four siblings. We appreciate all the condolences and love that are pouring from all ends of the world. However, due to the burden of this matter, we kindly request you to give the family the time it needs to mourn.”

One of the bands that collaborated extensively with Malome Vector, Blaq Diamond, also shared their deepest sympathies and said how much his music had influenced them.

“It is with deep sorrow that we, Blaq Diamond, express our heartfelt condolences to the families of our brothers LizwiWokugala and Malome Vector, and their music fans from Lesotho, South Africa, and beyond. Lizwi Wokuqala was a rising star and a younger brother to us who inspired many with his music.

“Malome Vector was not only a talented musician but also a beloved brother and a cherished member of our musical family. His passion for music and his ability to create unforgettable memories through his art have left an indelible mark on all of us.

“We are eternally grateful to our former label for introducing us to the super talent Malome Vector. Together, we crafted music that transcends time, from ‘Early Morning’, ‘Dumelang’, ‘Price to Pay’ and ‘Chillisi’ to ‘uHulumen’, which will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

“Rest in peace, our dear brothers. Your legacies will continue to inspire and resonate with music lovers everywhere. Issued by Blaq Diamond on behalf of the entire Umuthi family.’’
