Social media is abuzz as fans and industry friends continue to share their well wishes to Leslie Jonathan Mampe, Jr., fondly known as Da L.E.S. who was confirmed to have been hospitalised after suffering a stroke on Friday at his home.

The Mampe family shared a statement, revealing that the renowned musician was in a stable condition, further requesting prayers.

The statement reads: “The family of renowned South African musician Da Les is deeply saddened to inform the public that he suffered a stroke at home on Friday, 26 July 2024, and has been hospitalised.

“While he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones, and his family calls on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period.

“Updates on Da Les’ condition will be provided as they become available. Thank you for your continued support. F2D Family.’’

This occurred only a few weeks after he appeared on a panel at The Roast of Minnie Dlamini alongside celebrities Trevor Gumbi, Shahan Ramkissoon, Celeste Ntuli, Lasizwe, Penny Lebyane, Siv Ngesi, and Robert Marawa, showcasing his ever-vibrant and robust personality.

With numerous hits, Da L.E.S. is a highly sought-after performer who was inducted into the South African hip-hop Hall of Fame.

Apart from performing alongside popular musicians such as Kendrick Lamar and Kelly Rowland, he won the fifth season of Tropika Island of Treasure, was named GQ’s best dressed multiple times, and has won a slew of music accolades.

Thousands of his admirers and music followers have been expressing their good wishes for him to get better and return home on social media.
