Mduduzi Ncube, a renowned singer and songwriter, has released his latest single, Dear Ex Yami, an upbeat track that charts his joy and liberation after the end of his relationship.
In his new song, Mduduzi embraces the theme of self-love and independence, emphasising the relief and happiness that comes with moving on from a difficult relationship.
Known for his soulful voice and relatable lyrics, the musician has made a name for himself with hits such as Isiginci and Langa Linye which garnered widespread acclaim.
Speaking about his new song, he said: “I completely enjoyed making this song. It portrays how relationships don’t define an individual. This song is all about happiness and choosing yourself as a person.”
Dear Ex Yami also features a talented group of collaborators, including Fanatic SA, Stalin Matsitsa, Caeser, and Ayanda Art, each of whom brings their unique flair to the song.
The recent release of a new music video, Myekele Ahamba, featuring the soulful Nomfundo Moh, is another example of his artistic ability and passion for music.
Ncube explained the song’s inspiration, emphasising how wonderful it was to work with Nomfundo Moh.
He said the song also encouraged listeners to prioritise their emotional well-being by ending unhealthy relationships.
“The inspiration behind Myekele Ahamba is to remind people that in every difficult situation with your spouse, friend, or even at work, self-awareness is vital. Love alone is not enough; your peace is always important. Working with udade Nomfundo Moh has been an incredible experience, and I hope this song resonates with everyone who hears it,” said Ncube.
Directed by Slowman Films and executive produced by Leroy Khoza, it is explained that the music video also delves into critical relationship issues such as infidelity, arguments, and mistrust, highlighting their destructive impact.
The soulful beat, crafted by producer Xolani Lindelani Shabalala, aka Stallion, beautifully complements the harmonies of Ncube and Nomfundo, enhancing the song’s thought-provoking message.
Ncube has also done collaborations with Big Zulu, Lwa Ndlunkulu, Zakwe, and Mafikizolo, further showcasing the dynamic and unique blend of traditional sounds and contemporary beats.
His hit songs include Angsakhoni, My Baby Yo, Njalo, Lonke, Istimela, Akupheli Lapha, and Ebumnyameni.
