FNB Easy PAYU and Easy Bundle customers will be able to buy up to four 600g loaves of white or brown bakery baked bread for 99c per loaf by swiping their cards at Pick n Pay stores around the country.

The 99c bread offer was initially announced in May by FNB in collaboration with Shoprite, however, without providing explanations as to why, FNB said on Monday that the offer will now be available at Pick n Pay stores.

The offer started on Sunday, September. The bank said their customers would continue to earn rewards when shopping at Checkers and Shoprite.

The 99c bread offer is applicable strictly to FNB Easy PAYU and Easy Bundle account holders, which range from R6.50 to R69 monthly bank fees.

In July, when the identical offer with Shoprite was meant to start, FNB cited “operational delays” and offered its customers R15 vouchers to buy branded, packaged loaves up to four times a month at their supermarket of choice.

eBucks Rewards Head Spokesperson, Zamabomvu Ngubane, said the partnership with the retailer was crafted with a shared vision to make everyday essentials more affordable for South African customers.

“Our growing number of like-minded eBucks partners is aligned to our lifestyle and rewards programme, which aims to make it easier and more convenient for our customers to stretch their rands further and better manage their cash flow, especially during these challenging economic times,” Ngubane says.

Pick n Pay’s group chief executive Sean Summers, reiterates that their values and ethos align with those of the bank.

“We see the value and role that loyalty programmes, like our Smart Shopper programme, play in helping customers stretch their budgets,” he said.

To qualify, customers must swipe their FNB Easy Debit Card at any Pick n Pay grocery store, provide the unique voucher code received on their phones and the total payable for the 600g loaf of white or brown bakery baked bread will be reduced to 99c.

Pick n Pay Smart Shoppers can also use their points to pay for their 99c loaf of weekly bread vouchers from FNB eBucks.
