South Africa’s Betway Premiership has recieved a glowing reference from Ghana international Richard Ofori, who currently turns out for Durban-based AmaZulu.

According to the 31-year-old shortstopper, South Africa’s top flight is the best league in Africa, which is evident by how well Bafana Bafana are playing on the international stage.

“This league is the best league in Africa,” former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Ofori said, according to FARPost. “No doubt about that, it’s the most watched league in Africa which is what happening in Europe, when you go there EPL is the most watched in world.

“So, in Africa, the PSL is the most watched. This means we’re doing something right, it means things are right.

“Some of the European-based players call me that if I have something here, I must call them, they are willing to come and play. So, it means they see the best that we have here and how beautiful the league is.

“What I can say is if they were not seeing anything good I’m not sure if they wouldn’t call me wanting to play here.

“The league is amazing, you can see with Bafana Bafana. What we are doing well, we must continue doing it so the league can grow and grow.”

However, according to Global Football Rankings, South Africa’s Betway Premiership places fourth on the continent behind Algeria’s Ligue 1, Morocco’s Botola Pro, and Egypt’s Premier League. It’s ranked 58th globally.
