It’s business as usual for Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis, who was heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs before the transfer window slammed shut last week.

The Soweto giants made their intentions to sign the tricky Rise and Shine winger known after he put in a number of eye-catching performances last season.

Those performances also saw him become an established player for Bafana Bafana at international level.

Speaking to Robert Marawa on MSW on 947, the club’s sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, admitted that Appollis was a player they were keeping their eye on, and were interested in his services.

“What I can say about Appollis is I don’t know any club in the country who wouldn’t want to sign Oswin,” Motaung Jr told Marawa at the time.

Other clubs that were reportedly keen on signing Appollis were Tunisia’s Esperance, Algeria’s MC Alger, as well as the reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

When the transfer window closed, a deal between Chiefs and Polokwane City, and the other clubs interested, could not be reached, and the Cape Town-born Bafana star remained in Limpopo.

Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe said it’s back to business for the 23-year-old.

“I think it hasn’t affected him that much psychologically because he knows he has a contract at home with Polokwane City where he has to provide and produce good performances every game he plays,” said Mohafe as quoted by iDiskiTimes.

“For him to keep those guys there [interested] and persisting on him, he should give the good performances. For him to remain in the national team, he still has to give good performances for the club, that is Polokwane City.”
