With the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs fast approaching, Orlando Pirates will be sweating over the fitness of two key players.
With the much-anticipated Betway Premiership fixture just two days away at FNB Stadium, Pirates may well be without the services of defender Olisa Ndah and Paseka Mako. Kick-off time for the match is at 3.30pm.
Ndah is out of action with a long term lower leg injury which he sustained in October, while details of Mako’s injury are unknown.
Mako, was not included in Pirates’ squad which played Richards Bay in the Nedbank Cup last weekend.
Little chance
It has prompted speculation about Mako’s fitness, although both players were seen taking part in light training on Tuesday.
Since they were not part of the main squad’s training session, it seems there will be little chance of them taking part in the match on Saturday.
Meanwhile, It may have come as something as a shock to see Orlando Pirates not sign any new players in the January transfer window, but the Sea Robbers seem to be more than happy with the players they have.
That’s in contrast to Chiefs who announced three new signings in the form of Tashreeq Morris, Thabo Cele and Makabi Lilepo on Monday.
Pirates, though, have excelled this season as they are second on the Betway Premiership log, and at six points behind Mamelodi Sundowns they are their closest challengers.
To their credit, Pirates are through to the quarterfinals of the Caf Champions League and will also have a an eye on the Nedbank Cup.
