Ex-Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori is reportedly set to land in Durban to complete his move to AmaZulu.

According to reports, the KwaZulu-Natal club have reacted quickly to address their goalkeeping woes after a number of costly errors by Bafana Bafana shotstopper Veli Mothwa.

Straight from a howler that gifted Uganda a goal during Bafana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Orlando Stadium two weeks ago, Mothwa followed that up with an equally horrendous error in their league opener against Polokwane City, which they lost 2-1.

To shore up that department, Usuthu have identified Ghana international, and former Pirates and Maritzburg United goalkeeper Ofori.

The 30-year-old Ofori is currently a free agent after he was released by the Sea Robbers at the end of last season.

After two years in the KZN capital in the colours of Maritzburg United, Ofori’s performances for club and country earned him a move up north to the Soweto giants, where he cemented his place as the number one goalkeeper.

However, after an injury kept him off the pitch for a considerate amount of time, he was usurped by Sipho Chaine.

Kick Off report that Simba SC, under the tutelage of Fadlu Davids, who worked with Ofori at Maritzburg and Pirates, are also interested in his services. The player, though, is said to have already agreed terms with Pablo Franco’s team.

While the PSL’s transfer window slammed shut on Friday, clubs are still allowed to sign free agents. However, the deal to sign the Ghana international is unlikely to be completed in time for Wednesday night’s league game the mighty Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
