Former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has hit out at coach Manqoba Mngqithi after the Tshwane giants were held to a goalless by Maniema Union in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday night.
In a game that was played at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane, Sundowns were expected to overwhelm the Congolese side.
However, despite having the bulk of the ball possession, and creating more goalscoring opportunities, Sundowns were unable to find the back of the net, and the game finished 0-0.

The result saw Mngqithi’s future being questioned by fans, who have seen the Brazilians struggle at times this season.
Speaking on SABC after the game, club legend Kekana was not happy with how the team was set up, and said he was worried about how they were attacking.
“We were playing at home, from the first whistle, you should show and send the message that you’re at home,” Kekana, who spent 10 years at Chloorkop, playing over 340 games and won a handful of honours, was quoted by KickOff.
“We didn’t see much of that, except we saw moments of Lucas Ribeiro a lot. I’m a bit worried with how we were attacking.
“I think it’s something we need to rectify because for us to get to the finals, these are the hurdles that will deny us to get to the finals.”
Kekana was Sundowns’ captain when the team famously beat Zamalek 3-1 on aggregate to win the CAF Champions League back in 2016.
