Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC are determined to make its mark on the 2025 Nedbank Cup.

The KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit are a name now known throughout the land, having eliminated Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in the last 32 round last year. Despite their embarrassing 6-1 defeat at the hands of Stellies in the following round of 16, the Stallions galloped home having taken valuable lessons from their experience.

Since then, the club’s chairman, Dr Xanti Pupuma, has relinquished the coaching duties, having guided the side in the previous campaign and placed former Orlando Pirates academy coach Mandla Qhogi at the wheel.

Milford has also moved from being relegation strugglers to title chasers as they trail league leaders Durban City by three points in the race for promotion.

Milford has been fixtured to face Royal AM in this round of the competition however that match remains up in the air at the moment with Thwihli Thwahla’s administration issues.

Speaking to the media in Durban on Wednesday, head coach Qhogi insisted that he is letting his men dream of possibly another special year in this year’s competition whilst keeping their ascendancy in the league.

“Yes we factor in that the club won against a big club in this country and we've got our target as well (this year), we plan to compete in every game with the highest possible level,” he said.

“This is a match (v Royal AM) we want to win at all costs because it will boost our challenge in the league because we know if we are out before the round of 16 it will damage our continuation.”

Milford’s match-up with Royal AM was originally scheduled for Monday, however, the new date of the fixture is yet to be confirmed with the Betway Premiership club’s woes ongoing.
