Sune Luus scored a brilliant unbeaten 53 on Wednesday, but it was not enough to get the Proteas Women over the line in their T20I against Pakistan in Multan.

Pakistan won the match by 13 runs to level their series 1-1 after two games, with one more still to play.

After their 20 overs, Pakistan set South Africa massive target of 182, and captain Laura Wolvaardt and her team took the challenge to their hosts as they tried to fight back.

The Proteas lost Tazmin Brits early on, but a number of solid partnerships had them believing they could chase down the target.

Anneke Bosch and skipper Wolvaardt took a proactive approach to the run chase and shared a 50-run partnership for the second wicket.

But, it was the 80-run stand between Luus and Chloe Tryon that had the Proteas believing they could pull off a result and seal the series.

However, there just weren’t enough overs and they fell agonisngly short in the end to lose the game by 13 runs.
