The Deontay Wilder-Francis Ngannou heavyweight boxing fight is on the cards according to reports, and the fight may just go ahead in Africa.

Ngannou is 38, while Wilder is 39 and the potential match-up will see two of the hardest hitters in the heavyweight division battle it out in the ring.

Wilder has 43 wins and four losses in his career, and four of those defeats have come in his last five fights.

That included a knockout (KO) and technical knockout (TKO) to Tyson Fury. Wilder first lost the WBC and heavyweight title to Fury in the first fight, and then was knocked out in the rematch.

Return to the ring

Wilder’s last fight came in June last year, a TKO to Zhilei Zhang. Still, Wilder still wants to get back in the ring according to his trainer Malik Scott

“Deontay always wanted to fight in Africa anyway. So I'm sure he's very excited about it. If there's something that he's going to entertain, this is something he's always wanted to do anyway,” Scott told SpaceportSweden.com.

“There's so many times he was supposed to go over there just to visit and do a couple events for people that wanted him to come over. So I'm sure if everything is right he definitely wouldn't mind going over there.”

The Cameroonian-French fighter Ngannou is also said to be very keen on the clash.

“We know Ngannou wants to do it. Deontay is going to fight again. So it’s all just a win.

“Him and Deontay will do big numbers, especially in Africa.”
