South African television has once again dimmed its lights as the beloved series “Gqeberha: The Empire” closes its curtain, marking a grim period for a medium that has captured the hearts of many.

The series joins a growing list of television masterpieces that have faced cancellation or non-renewal, including prominent titles such as “Champions”, “The Wife”, “DiepCity”, and “The River”.

As fans bid farewell to the series, the finale delivered a spectacle that left audiences buzzing.

Viewers were taken on an emotional rollercoaster with unforgettable moments, including Zimkhitha's shockingly orchestrated “death”, Thulani’s relentless quest for justice for Anathi, and the dramatic wedding chaos that unfolded in the lead-up to the show’s conclusion.
