Pretoria - Black First Land First (BLF) is the latest organisation to call for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to charge President Cyril Ramaphosa for the Phala Phala farm scandal.
Ramaphosa has been hogging the headlines in recent weeks after it was revealed by former spy boss Arthur Fraser that he had allegedly concealed a crime after millions of dollars were stolen at his Limpopo farm.
The crime involves the farm being robbed of an alleged $4 million (more than R60m), but Ramaphosa has denied any involvement in any criminal conduct, saying the money stolen was the proceeds from selling game.
However, BLF accused Ramaphosa of keeping the money hidden at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo to buy the upcoming ANC elective conference in December, where he will be seeking a second term as the president of the party. Speaking to Pretoria News yesterday, BLF leader Andile Mngxitama vowed to undertake a private prosecution if the NPA did not make a move.
“There is overwhelming evidence that implicates Ramaphosa. BLF is equally worried by reports that some of the implicated people have been gunned down. We know the mysterious deaths of people who implicate the president on wrongdoing like (Gavin Watson), the Bosasa boss whose matter has gone cold,” he said.
“The Phala Phala millions was money to buy the next ANC conference to ensure the victory of Ramaphosa. We know the CR17 donors like Rob Hersov are abandoning Ramaphosa.”
The Presidency did not answer calls or texts sent by Pretoria News.
Meanwhile, National Assembly speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula on Monday announced that Parliament had appointed the Section 89 inquiry panel to investigate the Phala Phala scandal following a motion by ATM leader Vuyo Zungula.
