Suzuki's latest compact sedan has been revealed by the Maruti-Suzuki division in India and it might be headed for South African shores some time in the future.
Our contact at Suzuki SA tells us that the new Ciaz sedan is under consideration for our market, they're quite keen in fact, but it hasn't been confirmed as yet.
The rather neat-looking four-door is based on the latest SX4 crossover's platform and fits, size-wise, between the B and C segments. Measuring 4490mm in length and 1730mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2650mm, the Ciaz is bigger than a Hyundai Accent but smaller than an Elantra.
The engine line-up, at least for the Indian-market model, is also on the small side with the sedan offering a choice between 68kW 1.4-litre petrol and 66kW/200Nm 1.3 turbodiesel engines.
Though no other engines have been announced as yet, it's also likely that certain markets will get Suzuki's 86kW 1.6-litre engine, which is found in the SX4.
When we find out more about the Ciaz, you will too.
