Durban: The Grade 12 class of 2024 is counting down to the release of their matric results which is in less than two weeks time.
The Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, will announce the outcome of the National Senior Certificate examinations on 13 January 2025. Results will be released to candidates on 14 January 2025.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) warned that some results may not be available because of technical issues.
The department said on its website that candidates were urged to get their statements of results from their school or centre where they wrote the exams.
“Candidates’ results will also be available on the (education department) website from 6am on 14 January 2025. Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.
“Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the department before 21 February 2025," the DBE said.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has also confirmed that the 2024 IEB matric results for more than 13 000 pupils will be made available to candidates from their school or centre where they wrote the exams on 13 January 2025, pending approval from exam watchdog Umalusi.
National Professional Teachers' Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa) in KwaZulu-Natal said they were pleased with the administration of the matric exams as well as the marking process.
“Any complaints received from the markers were swiftly addressed by the department. We look forward to the release of the results and hope to see another improvement on the KZN report card.”
The South African Democratic Teachers Union said the marking process had gone smoothly.
“We didn’t issue a statement on the marking process because members didn’t report anything untoward.”
