Popular South African soapie, “Scandal!”, has received online criticism from viewers of the show after it changed its title sequence.

The title sequence of the show was changed on Monday after “Scandal!” made a few changes and announced that it was the end of an era for the previous season. It also introduced a new cast that is joining the beloved telenovela.

Taking to their social media platforms to announce the new title sequence, they captioned the post, “New Title Sequence Loading >>> O ready? (Are you ready?)."

However, the post was met with online criticism from “Scandal!” viewers as they did not like the changes made.

“Yho, this does not look promising at all, the quality is giving 1980s, and why does the title card look cartoon-ish? Very disappointed, rather cancel it altogether,” said TikTok user @Lex

@keneilwemokone commented, “Scandal will lose viewers. I feel like I didn't even watch 'Scandal', I am so disappointed.”

While @immaculate_Tshuma added, “I am not feeling the first episode of the spin-off, it’s lukewarm. Maybe kusase early sizabona ngendlela (Maybe it’s still early; we will see as time goes on).”

The new title sequence of the show no longer shows the running lady in a red dress and a heel, instead, it was replaced with a new lady wearing a gold sparkly dress paired with gold heels, which emphasises the change that the show is bringing to its viewers.

However, not every fan was disappointed with the changes; others were happy and accepted the changes that the show made.

@siya_Desupastar commented, “This is what I’m talking about, I love this new scandal with the best new characters, not that old one.”

“Let’s give them time guys; let’s not be too quick to judge,” added @just_Lele

Last week, “Scandal!” announced that it has added six new characters to the new show and also ended the previous season with a bang.

But in the first episode of “the new era”, we were already introduced to a dilemma whereby Sammy Day, played by Owen Sejake, had killed another character.
