Cameron Diaz is making her movie comeback after more than a decade alongside Jamie Foxx in “Back in Action”.
The Netflix spy comedy is set to premiere on January 17.
According to the streamer, the film will see the Hollywood actors star as retired CIA operatives, Emily and Matt, who are now leading a peaceful suburban life.
But they find themselves back in the field when their cover is suddenly exposed and they are thrust back into the world of espionage, while also trying to care for their children.
Meanwhile, “Variety” added that the star-studded cast also includes Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson.
“Back in Action” is directed by Seth Gordon, who previously helmed “Horrible Bosses” and “Baywatch”.
This is Diaz’s first acting role since she starred in “Annie” 11 years ago. It marks her comeback after she announced her retirement in 2014 to focus on raising her two children with her musician husband, Benji Madden.
She has also launched her wellness brand Avaline and has appeared on episodes of “The Drew Barrymore Show” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
Diaz will also return to voice acting for the upcoming animated sequel “Shrek 5”.
Meanwhile, “Back in Action” will also see Foxx return to the public eye after being hospitalised in April after suffering a stroke caused by a bleed on the brain.
On his Netflix comedy special “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was”, which was released earlier this month, he explained: “On April 11, I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for Aspirin. I realised quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f*** to do.”
He added: “I don’t remember 20 days. “You don’t know how good this feels."
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Diaz and Foxx have teamed up on screen. The pair previously worked together on “Any Given Sunday” and “Annie”.
