Just weeks after announcing his divorce from his wife Anna, Bobby van Jaarsveld has released a new heartbreak single, “Niks Soos Liefde Nie” (Nothing Like Love).

The track chronicles the popular Afrikaans singer’s emotions as he navigates his way around the split.

The couple, who were married for 13 years, have three children together. They began dating when they were both 17 years old, having met in Grade 8 while they were pupils at Brits High School.

Their star-studded wedding took place at the Dunes Resort in Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape in January 2011. During their time together, they lived in a beautiful home in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.

But the “Die Land” hitmaker and the businesswoman announced their separation last month.

In a statement shared on his Instagram, the couple announced the news of the “most difficult decision” they had to make together.

“After much consideration, Anna and I made the most difficult decision of our lives together - to end our marriage. The decision was not taken lightly, but we believe after much time and considering it's best for both of us right now,” the post read.

It added: “We have shared so many wonderful moments and years together and will always love each other and care. God has blessed us with three beautiful children and they will always be our first priority.”

They maintained that while their relationship has changed they are committed to raising their three children together. They also asked for privacy as they navigate this difficult time and thanked everyone for their support.

Meanwhile, the musician’s latest track addresses the pain of the split as he indirectly sings about the end of his marriage.

Some of the lyrics include: “Maar toe los ons it, was seer, maar ek’s ok. Nou weet ek daar is niks soos liefde nie, niks maak seer soos die.”

This loosely translates to: “Then we let it go iIt was painful, but I’m ok. Now I know there is nothing like love, nothing hurts like that.”

Meanwhile, in a recent Instagram post, he added that he appreciated the support that the song has been receiving and that “Alles gaan ok wees op die einde , as dit nie ok is nie dan is dit nog nie die einde nie.”

This translates to: “Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.”
