The family of the South African comedian Ebenhaezer Dibakwane released a statement on Tuesday, March 11, regarding the death of the comedian who sadly passed away on Friday, March 7.
The statement revealed that Dibakwane had died due to suicide: “The past few days have been excruciating for us, as we battle to deal with his loss. Preliminary evidence suggests that Ebby died by suicide, which we expect will be confirmed by the post-mortem examination.
“Poignantly, Ebby was well-known for the talent of making people laugh, and yet he struggled with depression for a number of years.
"While his passing is devastating for us and many who loved him, it is our prayer that this tragedy may remind all of us including seeking professional help where necessary."
His agency, Pickled Ginger, took to social media to announce that the comedian had passed away, and South Africa has been mourning the loss of one of its greatest comedians.
Many celebrities and fans have paid tribute to Dibakwane and shared special moments they shared with him on social media.
His funeral is scheduled for Friday, March 14, at 7am in Mbombela, Nelspruit, at Church Unlimited.
