Internationally renowned composer, performer, and Grammy Award-winning producer, Lebo M, has shared the news of his mother's death.
In a statement, the family shared that Magogo Nomvula Grissel Morake died peacefully this morning after a beautiful and restful night.
“A true matriarch, she was a pillar of love, wisdom, and strength within her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her,” read the statement.
Lebo M and his family thanked the public for their love and support as they requested privacy to mourn their mother and grandmother.
Details regarding memorial arrangements will be shared in due course. Magogo Morake last year celebrated her 100th birthday.
On his reality show “Lebo M Coming Home”, there was a scene where Magogo Morake was honoured by her family members.
Lebo M’s mother's passing comes as he is preparing for his once-in-a-lifetime live concert. The Grammy Award-winning entertainer has announced that special guest Hans Zimmer will join him in Cape Town for the one-night-only extravaganza.
Following overwhelming demand, Lebo M's show has been moved from Artscape to the Grand Arena at Grand West on 18 April 2025, and now even has a special guest.
The stellar lineup includes the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, the Soweto Spiritual Singers, the Ndlovu Youth Choir, and singer-songwriters Nkosinathi Shabalala and Refi Sings.
