Richards Bay FC has hit the ultimate low in their Betway Premiership season so far, and they need a result against SuperSport United to begin their recovery.

Both sides are fresh off losses in their last league encounters, and they will be desperate for points when they go head to head in their league fixture at the King Zwelithini Stadium on tonight (7.30pm kick-off).

The Natal Rich Boys have had it tough this season, and they currently find themselves at the bottom of the log with only one win from nine league matches so far. The KZN side is currently without a permanent coach after the club parted ways with the experienced Brandon Truter last week.

His appointment earlier this year came with a lot of hope, especially with the financial backing of Phakwe Gas stepping in to change their fortunes, but things haven't gone according to plan so far.

Their 3-1 loss against AmaZulu in the KZN derby added salt to their wounds as they lost to their former coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, who helped them survive relegation but would later be let go to be replaced by Truter at the beginning of this season.

They will come up against a SuperSport United side that has also strung a couple of results to find themselves placed ninth with nine points from the same amount of matches played.

Gavin Hunt and his Matsatsantsa a Pitori side are winless in three matches, and they have only managed to collect five points from their last five fixtures.

Their recent 1-0 loss against newcomers Marumo Gallants at home would not have gone down well with their mentor, and they need to get back to winning ways to keep track of the top eight position.

Their effort against a Dan Malesela-led Siwelele sa Marumo summed up their season so far, as they continued to have good ball possession but without anything to show on the board.

Both sides collected three points from each other last season, and Richards Bay would give quite a lot to repeat their 3-1 win against Hunt’s chargers, who had beaten them 2-0 at home earlier that season.

The Natal Rich Boys had since had Ronnie Gabriel as caretaker coach, but it will take a lot from everyone concerned to find their way out of the quicksand.

They need to find a quick solution to avoid being in the same position as last season in a battle for survival.
