Durban — The bail application of two women charged with conspiring to commit robbery with aggravated circumstances would only be heard next week.

Zamokuhle Ndlovu and Londiwe Sithole, from KwaDabeka, allegedly hatched a plan to rob Wiseman Sibiya of his severance pay.

Sibiya and the women know each other with Ndlovu being his neighbour and a close family friend.

On Monday in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court the two had meant to apply for bail, however due to issues pertaining to their alternative addresses and verification of such, the matter was postponed to next week.

The State alleges that in KwaDabeka Ndlovu and Sithole unlawfully conspired to rob Sibiya of his fossil watch, brown watch, a cellphone and FNB card with a gun being used during the commission of the alleged offence.

Before the two women’s appearance in court, a recorded telephone call had been shared on WhatsApp several times – of the alleged plan being hatched. The people speaking in the recorded telephone call are believed to be Sithole, Ndlovu and a man who says during the conversation that he knows Sibiya.

The conversation is about when the act would be committed with the man heard saying “this weekend was out as he was busy”.

When the man asks how much money the woman thinks the victim has in his account she says that “he had real money come out for him… real money, I don’t want to lie, he has gone to buy a car right now after that he will be alright.”

Sibiya had previously said that he had resigned from his previous employment and had received his severance package.
