Cape Town - "I want to stand at my window and hear the gunshots.”

This is the spine-chilling instruction allegedly made by an Elsies River woman as she instructed a gunman to open fire on the home of slain AntiGang Unit detective Charl Kinnear in an alleged revenge attack.

Shocking phone calls and voice notes found on the phones of Amaal Jantjies were aired in the Western Cape High Court yesterday.

Jantjies is on trial alongside alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack and her former boyfriend, Janick Adonis, for an array of attempted murder charges centred on planned attacks of Kinnear’s Bishop Lavis home.

Kinnear was shot and killed outside his home on September 18, 2020, but evidence found on the two cellphones by Jantjies outlined several plans to attack his home in November 2019.

Captain Trevor Shaw of the Hawks National Task Team, assigned to investigate the murder of Kinnear, returned to the stand yesterday, where he outlined the communications between Jantjies and a hitman known only as “Yusie”.

In a series of chats, calls and voice notes, she is heard negotiating a price for the shooting on Kinnear’s home.

In one call, she is heard graphically describing the motivations for the planned shooting.

She tells the hitman the home belongs to a colonel and claims Kinnear allegedly confiscated 80 guns belonging to a client and the shooting was aimed at sending a message.

She claims nobody is present at the house but that Kinnear must learn “not to scratch”.

In another voice note played in court, Jantjies is heard telling the hitmen to “dala”, saying she will stand at the window of her Clarke’s Estate home where she will wait to hear the gunshots.

Earlier evidence presented in the trial showed that Jantjies received R64 000 from the Empire Investments bank account and a BMW from Modack to infiltrate the AntiGang Unit to obtain information as to when Modack’s homes would be raided.

Last month, Jantjies was outed by the Hawks as a liar when officers explained to Judge Robert Henney how she fabricated messages sent to Modack and falsely implicated alleged Sexy Boys gang boss, Jerome “Donkie” Booysen, in plans to raid Modack’s home.

The trial continues.
