This is according to the Pnet Job Market Trends Report November 2024 which provides insights into the recruitment and employment trends of South Africa.
IT Project/Management in the Information Technology job sector and Pharmacist in the Medical & Health job sector are the second and third most in-demand jobs, respectively.
Rounding up the top five most in-demand jobs in SA is Infrastructure/Operations Consulting in the Business & Management sector in the fourth spot with Logistics Management in the Warehousing & Logistics job sector sitting in the fifth spot.
In terms of month-on-month hiring recruitment activity, there was a 12% growth from September to October 2024, while year-on-year, hiring activity declined by 1% in comparison to October 2023.
In the Western Cape, there was a demand for professionals in the Finance; Business Management; IT; and Admin, Office & Support.
Over the last three months, recruitment activity in the province has increased by 21% for Building & Construction professionals, while year-on-year, in the Western Cape hiring activity rose by 77% in the Building & Construction sector.
The top in-demand professionals in the Northern Cape is: Business & Management; Architecture & Engineering; Finance; and Admin, Office & Support.
The Northern Cape has seen 97% growth in hiring activity for Business & Management professionals over the last three months (August, September, October 2024) compared to the previous three months (May, June, July 2024).
Year-on-year in the Northern Cape, there has been a 57% rise in recruitment for Business & Management professional in this province.
For the North West, the top in-demand professionals: Business & Management; and Finance.
Recruitment for Business & Management professionals has been on the rise in the North West province over the last year.
Year-on-year, there has been 17% growth in recruitment for Business & Management staff. There has been a spike in recruitment for Sales professionals year-on-year in the North West province.
